Messiah Lutheran Church is a Teaching Church, a training ground.
At Messiah, we feel that Christian Education is a very vital part of every child’s development. God has made parents responsible for the Christian education of their children. We encourage home-church cooperation where parents and teachers work together to bring up their children “as unto the Lord.”
Baptism is a time for family and friends to rejoice together. The birth of a child is a cause for happiness. But most of all Baptism is God’s time. Through the water and the Word of God, our Heavenly Father claims the child as His own. He promises to cleanse, love and guide this young one throughout his/her life.
It was our Lord God who said, “Do not be afraid, I will save you. I have called you by name, you are mine.” (Isaiah 43:1 GNB)
At Messiah we value what God starts in Baptism. Although it is important that we come to God repentant and accept His Grace, Baptism marks above all else God’s work to bring us to Himself.
We affirm God’s claim as soon as we can in a child’s life. At the same time we are overjoyed when adults, older children, and families hear God’s call to Baptism.
“Will you pray for your child and teach him/her to pray? Will you read the scriptures together and attend church as a family? Will you see that he/she receives instruction in the Christian faith? If so, answer, “I will, with God’s help.” Pastor Dave Nygard

Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a big week here at Messiah. We provide singing, Bible lessons, crafts, and games (among many things) for 200 children in the area each year.
Volunteers begin in May and June preparing for the transformation of the church to a medieval castle, jungle, or whatever the year may bring. We are proud to have as many as 130 volunteers preparing the adventure for the children and walking beside them through each activity.
It all culminates with the Friday Fest, 6-9pm, the last day of VBS. Children bring mom and dad to see the decorations or celebrate a week of service.
Watch the church publications for each summers dates and ways for you to get involved.
