What if the most important thing this Christmas isn’t something we do, but a question we ask?

Christmas Is The Perfect Time To Invite Someone To Church

Have you noticed that at Christmas time even the most frugal among us will  happily give to the Santa ringing his bell at the entrance to the store.

Have you noticed that politics get put aside, family quarrels get a break as families gather to spend Christmas Eve together.

People WILL come to church if someone they know would just ask!

They are hungry not just for the Christmas dinner but for Jesus!

They want to try something new – nothing else has worked so far.

We are desperate to hear good news and share great joy.

In the past year we have had so many tragedies in our country, in our town, in our own lives.

Marriages end, loved ones pass away, and devastating test results come back.

For many, the future seems bleak and hearts are broken.

Often, people who are hurting feel like church isn’t for them. This Christmas, we have the opportunity to invite those who are hurting to the Savior where they can meet the God who knows their greatest fears,

sees their deepest longings, and who sent His Son to save us.

The hope we give away on Christmas is sure to outlast the cookies and the lights on the tree and the 25 toys we purchase for each child.

Make your plans to attend Messiah Lutheran Church this Christmas Season

The Greatest Gift

Dec 2nd   Look… for Hope - Pr. Kurt

Isaiah 11:1-5 & Luke 19:1-10

(Stump of Jesse, Zacchaeus)

What is it that we are truly looking for in this season?  Jesus invites us to find our Hope as a part of His family tree.

Dec 9th Laugh… for Joy  - Pr. Nygard

Hebrews 12:1-2 & Luke 1:39-45 (the Joy set before him…)

What is the joy that you are expecting after the hustle and bustle of this season?  Luke uses the word ‘Joy’ 12 times, 4 times in the first 2 chapters.

Dec 16th   Linger… for Peace - Pr. Kurt

Genesis 22:1-19 & 1 John 4: 7-12   (Only son, Isaac and Jesus)

Are you more focused on giving or getting this season?  Here is a twist, maybe Jesus wants you to focus less on what you will give this season and more on what God provides for you.

Dec 23rd   Love… for Always - Pr Kurt

2 Corinthians 13:11-14 & John 13:12-17, 34-35 (love one another)

Are you willing to be loved?  God has given himself to the World so that we might give ourselves to others. What would it look like for you to lean into God’s love this season?
